LInking Nursing Knowledge and GEnomics (LINKAGE): Development of a Knowledge Engagement Hub.

BACKGROUND: Genomics is rapidly transforming health care; yet, many nurses lack the genomic literacy needed to support its integration. To address this gap, the LINKAGE knowledge engagement hub was developed as an innovative online platform offering evidence-based genomic modules and resources for nurses. This study sought to identify gaps in genomic literacy and develop an online learning engagement hub to address those gaps. METHOD: Nurse educators (N = 85) from Canada and the United States completed an online survey, including the 31-item Genomic Nursing Concept Inventory (GNCI), and participated in focus groups to identify knowledge gaps and content needs. RESULTS: The GNCI mean score was 53%, with subcategories ranging from 43% to 64%. Focus group themes included educator knowledge gaps, resource needs, and leadership support. CONCLUSION: Findings informed the development of LINKAGE, an online learning platform for nurses and educators.
