New data on jumping spiders of the subfamily Spartaeinae (Araneae, Salticidae) from New Guinea, with the description of a new species.

We describe a new species of Gelotia Thorell, 1890, Gelotia korowai sp. nov., which is the first Gelotia species from the island of New Guinea. New records for four Cocalodes species-C. innotabilis Wanless, 1982; C. macellus (Thorell, 1878); C. papuanus Simon, 1900, and C. thoracicus Szombathy, 1915--are presented, and the specimens are illustrated. Lectotypes for C. plebejus Szombathy, 1915 and C. thoracicus are also designated. With 49 original images and a distribution map.
