This paper presents data on the chemical composition of algal residues formed after the extraction of sulfated polysaccharides from algae. The need for additional components to adjust the C:N ratio when composting algal residue-based mixtures is demonstrated. It was found that seed germination and lettuce yield depend on the type of algal residue used, the composition of the compost mass, and the algal residue-to-soil ratio. Recipes for compost mixtures based on algal residues were developed, and testing demonstrated their effectiveness in growing watercress, radishes, and horseradish.
