Evaluation of the effectiveness of compound feeds with different content of pea protein concentrate for rearing rainbow trout in RAS conditions

It has been shown that during commercial rearing of rainbow trout using compound feeds with different contents of pea protein concentrate, the fish growth rate increases while feed costs per unit of weight gain decrease, both in physical and monetary terms. The most appropriate inclusion level of pea protein concentrate in the diet of rainbow trout during commercial rearing in RAS is 18%. Furthermore, the addition of this component to feed formulations leads to a significant reduction in ash and phosphorus levels in the compound feed composition, positively affects the structural and mechanical properties of feed pellets (crumbling properties, water stability) and feces (density, sinking rate), which may help reduce their negative impact on recirculating water quality and is a positive factor for fish rearing in RAS.
