ABSTRACT Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a horticultural crop that is highly favored by the public; however, its productivity has declined due to limited land availability. The wick hydroponic system is an efficient alternative cultivation method. This study aimed to determine the effects of different growing media and to identify the best medium for the growth and yield of pakchoi. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 in Kotamobagu, North Sulawesi (789.71 meters above sea level), using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments of growing media (rockwool, cocopeat, rice husk charcoal, and compost) and four replications. The observed variables included plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, and fresh weight. The results showed that the growing media treatments had a significant effect on all parameters. Compost medium (P4) produced the best growth and yield response, with a plant height of 23.06 cm, 16.5 leaves, a leaf length of 11.25 cm, and a fresh weight of 53.88 g. In conclusion, compost is the most suitable growing medium for pakchoi cultivation in the wick hydroponic system. Keywords: Pakcoy, hydroponics, wick system, growing media, compost.
