Eco-Islamic Character Education Model in Environmentally-Cultivated Schools

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Eco-Islamic Character Education model at SMA Plus Darussalam Ciamis in the Environmentally Cultured School (ECS), which is one of the Adiwiyata Programs, by examining the integration of Islamic values in environmental education practices implemented through learning activities and school culture, as well as examining the role of the program in forming students' environmentally conscious character based on Islamic values. This study employed a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques included purposive in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, educational staff, and students of SMA Plus Darussalam Ciamis. Data were then analyzed using an interactive model, and validity was tested through triangulation and member checking. The results of the study indicate that Eco-Islamic Character Education is implemented in an integrated manner through learning, school culture, and behavioral habits that integrate Islamic values with environmental education. This approach strengthens students' understanding of human responsibility as caliphs in protecting the environment and contributes to the formation of environmentally conscious characters reflected in conservation behavior, responsible resource management, and active participation in environmental preservation activities. This study produces an Eco-Islamic Character Education model that integrates religious values, environmental education, and school culture as a holistic framework in sustainably shaping students' ecological character.
