This dataset corresponds to a study exploring the association between intelligence factors and performance in modern board games among secondary school students. Intelligence was assessed with the EDINT test (Yuste Hernanz & Yuste Peña, 2008a), a battery of six subtests derived from CHC theory (McGrew, 2009): Verbal Analogies (Rv), Numerical Series (Rn), Logical Matrices (Re), Sentence Completion (Vv), Numerical Problems (Nn), and Turns and Laces of Figures (Ee). These subtests were also grouped into broader composite factors (Reasoning, Verbal, Numerical, and Visuospatial) and a General Intelligence index. Participants also played six modern board games, each theoretically matched to one of the EDINT cognitive domains: Cross Clues (verbal), Tuki (visuospatial), SET (logical reasoning), Unánimo (verbal), Streams (numerical series), and Numenko (numerical problems). Games were played in randomly assigned groups of four, and outcome variables include points obtained (by category, where applicable), total score, and finishing position relative to the other three players in each group. The dataset includes individual-level data for 72 third-year secondary education students (Mean age = 14.0, SD = 0.44), combining psychometric test scores with board game performance data, intended to explore whether performance in modern board games can serve as a proxy measure for specific intelligence factors.
