The discovery of large amounts of ʿAqaba type pottery at Ẓafār in the Highlands of the Yemen provided a first opportunity for in-depth, archaeometric study. There can be no question about the origin in ʿAqaba/Aylah. Despite early and later periods and variants of manufacture, we are dealing with a single ware.
