We studied the effect of liposomal xymedon (50 and 100 mg/kg) on LPO and antioxidant protection parameters in the liver of rats with Walker-256 carcinoma treated with a liposomal combination of doxorubicin (4 mg/kg) and cyclophosphamide (45 mg/kg) (once intravenously on day 11 after tumor cell transplantation). Xymedon (in liposomes and as an aqueous solution) was administered intravenously for 5 days starting from day 11 of the experiment. The parameters of LPO and antioxidant protection were assessed on days 3 and 7 after chemotherapy. Intensification of LPO in the liver was observed on day 3 after the administration of liposomal cytostatics in comparison with the use of their aqueous solutions. The advantage of liposomal xymedon over its aqueous solution lies in the development of a hepatoprotective effect at the minimum tested dose (50 mg/kg), which is manifested by a decrease in the levels of diene conjugates and MDA with a balanced increase in SOD and catalase activities in the liver, as well as the prevention of diarrhea associated with the use of the aqueous xymedon solution at a dose of 100 mg/kg.
