Development of psychosocial care satisfaction scale for patients: validity and reliability study.

BACKGROUND: It is important to determine the extent to which nurses perform psychosocial care in their daily practice. This study aims to develop a psychosocial care satisfaction scale for patients and examine its reliability and validity. METHODS: This was a methodological study. It involved examining the conceptual structure, creating the item pool and draft form, pilot implementation, obtaining expert opinions, applying the draft form to the sample, measuring validity and reliability, and finalising the scale. The data were analysed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses for conceptual validity, Cronbach's α and item-total correlation values, a comparison was made between the lower 27% and upper 27% groups. The reliability of the scale was examined using the Cronbach α reliability coefficient and the split-half method. AVE and CR values were also calculated. The data were collected from 600 participants between February 2023 and February 2024. RESULTS: The factor analysis resulted in a single-factor and 16-item measurement tool. The analyses revealed that the scale is acceptable regarding scope, content, and structure. CONCLUSION: The scale has been determined to have high overall reliability and provide a sensitive measurement of patient psychosocial care satisfaction.
