Public policy on Human Papillomavirus immunization: an analysis based on the Walt and Gilson policy triangle.

OBJECTIVE: To examine and analyze the Human Papillomavirus vaccination public policy implemented in Chile from the Walt and Gilson health policy triangle's perspective. METHOD: A scoping review was conducted according to JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis guidelines to identify the following broad domains: actors, content, context, and process. RESULTS: Of the 24 selected articles and official reports, nursing professionals were identified as key actors in a privileged position to increase public acceptance, vaccination coverage, and access. Regarding content, context, and process, new strategies are needed to enhance acceptance of vaccination in dynamic settings and to formulate effective evidence-based vaccination policies. CONCLUSION: Public policy analysis, mediated by the Walt and Gilson health policy triangle, allows for the identification of interactions among its components and clarifies the challenges associated with the promotion and prevention of diseases linked to the Human Papillomavirus, thereby contributing to the strengthening of collective health, healthcare systems, and global priorities aimed at comprehensive and sustainable human development.
