It is the presence and strength of the relational bonds between people, communities, and generations that make protection, dignity, and peace possible in the first place. The doctrine draws on eleven established frameworks, including human security, political realism, and the Responsibility to Protect. It grounds its central idea in two independent philosophical traditions: Ubuntu and Confucian Role Ethics. It sets out clear rules for scoring bonds, states plainly what evidence would prove it wrong, and applies its framework openly to eight documented cases, including Northern Ireland, Colombia, Rwanda, South Africa, and the ongoing climate displacement facing Tuvalu and Kiribati.
