Charles Janine is an American mining engineer and the development of gold mining in Russia in the first third of the twentieth century

Charles Janin (1873–1937), American geologist, consultant to Lena Goldfields, one of the most experienced mining engineers specializing in the exploitation of dredges, the development and evaluation of placer gold deposits. An extensive set of his documents is currently stored in the Huntington Library in San Marino, in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The collection of Charles Janine contains unique information about the participation of American geologists and engineers in the exploration of non-ferrous metal and gold deposits in Eastern Siberia, the Urals and Altai, about cooperation between American and Russian geologists at the end of the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century.
