It is shown that in the conditions of damage to a significant part of the generating equipment of coal-fired thermal power plants by enemy shelling, the relevance of converting the surviving power units with anthracite boilers to gas coal is increasing. Based on the analysis of the experience of the TPP-210A boilers of the 300 MW units of the Trypilska TPP, previously converted to sub-bituminous coal, an improved concept of conversion based on pulverized coal transport of normal concentration to burners is substantiated. Calculations have proven that the developed technical solutions, including a significant increase in the mill fans productivity and a corresponding increase in the diameter of dust ducts, provide the regulatory speed characteristics in dust ducts and burners and the flow rates of the primary oxidant, compliance of the pressure characteristics of the fans with the resistances of dust ducts, boiler steam capacity of 1000 t/h by milling and drying productivity of pulverizing systems and throughput capacity of the dust transport system. The boiler efficiency will increase significantly due to the increase in the completeness of sub-bituminous coal burnout compared to anthracite, the combustion mode with reliable molten slag removal and no slagging of screens in the load range of 65–100 % is implemented in the furnace, which is increased compared to the combustion of anthracite. Technical solutions are the basis for the project to convert the boiler unit of station No. 2 of the Trypilska TPP to sub-bituminous coal, the implementation of which started in the fall of 2025.
