Potassium Iodide–Water Mixture as a Catalyst for the Addition of CO2 to Oxiranes

An accessible and ecologically friendly catalyst for the addition of CO2 to oxiranes has been developed based on potassium iodide and water. The quantitative conversions of different oxiranes were achieved upon heating the reaction mixtures with 1–2 mol % of KI for 3 h.
