Manipulative Didactic Materials for Mathematics Learning in Children Aged 5 to 6 Years

This research analyzes the impact of manipulative didactic materials on mathematics learning in children aged 5 to 6 years. The objective was to determine their contribution to the development of basic mathematical notions through pedagogical activities. The sample consisted of 20 students from Military School No. 6 "Combatientes de Tapi" in Riobamba, using a mixed-methods approach with a descriptive scope. Observation was employed as the data collection technique, and a checklist was used as the research instrument. The results showed improvements in the understanding of mathematical concepts, classification, comparison, and problem-solving skills. It is concluded that the use of manipulative materials promotes meaningful learning and strengthens children's cognitive development.
