Tempeh industrial wastewater contains organic materials such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that have the potential to reduce environmental quality if discharged without proper treatment. This study aimed to analyze the quality of tempeh wastewater based on biological parameters, namely Escherichia coli and total coliform, physical parameters including temperature, color, and odor, and a chemical parameter, namely pH. Wastewater samples were collected from a home-scale tempeh industry located in Bukit Baru Village, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City. The study employed a survey method, and the data were analyzed using a descriptive quantitative approach. The results showed that the Escherichia coli level was 1600 MPN/100 mL, total coliform was 1600000 MPN/100 mL, temperature was 30.4°C, the wastewater was brownish in color and had an unpleasant odor, and the pH value was 4.64. The quality assessment indicated that the Escherichia coli concentration was below the established standard, whereas total coliform exceeded the permissible limit. In addition, the pH, color, and odor parameters did not meet the applicable wastewater quality standards.
