The article is devoted to highlighting the dynamics of the use of coping strategies by individuals during periods of active professional activity and social adaptation in extreme situations. The focus is on the potential of active problem-oriented adaptation, which is characterized by the mobilization of all available resources, including mental, cognitive and behavioral components. Successful adaptive behavioral strategies are highlighted and their potentially appropriate consistent use for overcoming stress factors in wartime conditions is indicated. The results of an empirical study of coping strategies reveal a complex and multifaceted picture of the use of various methods for overcoming extreme stress. Analysis of empirical data showed that in wartime, Ukrainians aged 22 to 45 demonstrate the use of a full range of coping strategies, but with varying degrees of intensity and effectiveness depending on individual characteristics and the nature of the stressful situation. At the same time, it is important to consciously choose and consistently use adaptive problem-oriented strategies such as planning problem solving, seeking social support, accepting responsibility, self-control, and positive reappraisal, which together reproduce the structural model of a behavioral approach to solving a problem situation. The consistent and structured use of adaptive problem-oriented strategies becomes an effective socio-psychological factor in the development of resilience in extreme situations. It has been found that conscious use of confrontation, distancing, and escape-avoidance becomes counterproductive in wartime, as it increases anxiety and social-emotional disorientation in situations of uncertainty and psychological trauma. Belief in the ability to control events in one's own life, social mutual support, a systematic approach to analyzing problematic situations, and the use of adaptive problem-oriented strategies contribute to the reassessment of one's own capabilities, the search for alternative solutions, and the mobilization of internal and external resources to overcome extreme stress.
