This paper examines the changes in the small bar district named Chushojima, located in historic urban periphery, with a particular focus on snack bars. The aim is to clarify the spatiality of snack bars as ubiquitous place for local people to belong. The research methods are a review of various materials and field research including interviews to local snack bars and measuring of the buildings. As a result, this paper clarified the spatiality of snack bars scattered widely throughout the small bar district and the spatiality of each snack bar manipulating its subtle distance from the street.
