This research explores how existing rural kabuki in the Tohoku District responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, examining changes in their actual situation of various activities and operational structures, with a focus on performances. The study uncovered valuable insights regarding the role and continuity of traditional arts including rural KABUKI. For instance, some groups maintained their performance schedules even when isolated from their local communities and external partners during COVID-19 pandemic. Conversely, other groups expanded their operational structures after the post-pandemic.
