Genre of travel essay in the works of the Udmurt prose writer and publicist Semen Samsonov (based on the essay "The Sun to the Zenith, the Day Rings")

The article examines the artistic originality of the travel essay " Шунды выллань, нунал азьлань '" ("The Sun to the Zenith, the Day Rings", 1975) by the famous Udmurt writer of the second half of the 20th century, Semen Alexandrovich Samsonov (1931-1993). The aim of the research is to determine the features of the artistic embodiment of the travel essay genre traditions in S. Samsonov's work "The Sun to the Zenith, the Day Rings". The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that, for the first time, the structural and content parameters of S. Samsonov's travel essay "The Sun to the Zenith, the Day Rings" are described, which significantly enriched the artistic and visual arsenal of Udmurt publicistic prose of the 1970s-1980s. As a result, it was established that a distinctive feature of Samsonov's essay writing is the movement toward a synthesis of past artistic experience with new representational principles adequate to the requirements of modernity. The writer makes a turn toward a multidimensional depiction of reality, demonstrating new features in the image of the man of labor, which is habitual for national prose. At the same time, recurring symbolic details and the appeal to folk philosophical reflection begin to play an important role. The specific nature of S. Samsonov's travel essay "The Sun to the Zenith, the Day Rings" consists in combining documentary-historical authenticity with psychologism.
