he thousands of years of parallel evolution and domestication shared by humans and dogs have brought the brain development of both species, and their susceptibility to age-related cellular degeneration, to a common point.Agerelated cognitive dysfunction in dogs shows a substantial parallel with Alzheimer's disease in humans, both in terms of clinical signs and structural changes in the brain.Within the framework of a One Health approach, the joint study of these two species-which share the same environmental conditions and have been companions for centuries-carries critical potential both for improving the quality of life of dogs and for developing new and effective treatments for Alzheimer's disease, one of humanity's greatest medical challenges.
