LONGING FOR HOMELAND IN THE DOCUMENTARY STORY "CRYING OF LAMBELI" BY V. LAMBELI AND B.ABDURRAHMANOV

The article discusses the theme of longing for the homeland in Vali Lambeli and Bakir Abdurrahmanov's documentary story "Lambeli's Lament".The book lists the names of the Lambeli compatriots who fought heroically and lost their lives during World War II and the First Karabakh War.It also reflects on the horrors of the January 20th, 1990 tragedy, criticizing the Soviet Union's double standards as well as Armenian atrocities.This documentary book written in 1995 talks about Lambeli's historical past, traditions, monuments, rich and mysterious nature, and most importantly, its people.The book begins with Vali Lambeli's poem "Dream of the Homeland" and ends with the poem "Dindirma" (Don't Interrogate).The first poem expresses the pain of a compatriot forcibly displaced from his homeland, unwilling to believe in his fate, while the last poem reflects the lament of a person too overwhelmed by grief to speak.The main goal of the article is to convey to the world community the bitter cry of the Western Azerbaijanis who were forcibly displaced from their historical ancestral lands.To achieve this, the history, ethnography, and roots of the village of Ləmbəli have been researched, and references are made to the work "Lambeli's Lament" as well as to other laments and poems by the people of Lambeli.
