The Kayı tribe, one of the ancient Turkic tribes, is mentioned in Rashid al-Din Fazlullah's "Oghuzname" as descending not from Yasef (Japhet), the son of Noah, but from the lineage of Olcaytu.However, Oghuz Khan had six sons who were the founders of two lineages.Gun (Sun) Khan, Ay (Moon) Khan, and Deniz (Sea) Khan are considered the ancestors of one lineage.In the mid-13th century, Ertoghrul Gazi, the leader of the Kayı tribe of the Oghuz, was the father of Osman Bey, the founder of the Ottoman state.During the Mongol invasion, it is said that Ertoghrul took over the leadership of the Kayı tribe after the tragic drowning of his father, Suleyman Bey while crossing the Euphrates River.However, according to a Byzantine scholar, Ertoghrul's father was not Suleyman Bey but Gunduz Alp.This fact is confirmed by an important work like Enveri's "Dusturname."In this context, a coin discovered during archaeological excavations, inscribed with "Osman bin Ərtoğrul bin Gündüz Alp" stands out as a historical document.
