Global Food Systems: A Virtual Field Trip Through Students' Home Countries is a project-based lesson for grades 6–12 that integrates agricultural literacy, soil science, food science, and digital literacy. Students use Google Earth to travel from North Carolina to their home countries, exploring farms, crops, natural resources, and traditional foods. They investigate how food moves from farm to table and create a virtual field trip and infographic to share their learning. Designed with multilingual learners in mind, the lesson includes sentence frames, academic vocabulary, visuals, and collaborative activities to support language development while fostering critical thinking, cultural appreciation, and global awareness.
