M.Ya. Dvorkina’s Library Paradigm: From Theory to Practice

The article dedicates to the scientific contribution of the leading Russian scientist Margarita Yakovlevna Dvorkina to library science. It analyzes the evolution of her concept of library and information services. The author traces the path from the monograph (1993), in which M.Ya. Dvorkina substantiated library services as an integrated system focused on dialogue and the user’s personality, to later works (2001, 2009), in which she reinterpreted this activity in the context of the information society as a system evolving under the influence of digital technologies. Special attention is paid to the humanistic approach proposed by M.Ya. Dvorkina, which opposes technocratization, and the role of the bibliographer as an intellectual mediator and navigator of meanings. The conclusion is made about the methodological significance and relevance of her ideas in the modern era, when personalization and contextual relevance of services come to the fore. Dvorkina’s scientific ideas, supported by her high professional and human authority, are a useful source for the development of library science and practice.
