El Análisis de la percepción estudiantil en secundaria sobre habilidades orales en inglés como lengua extranjera

To be communicatively competent in a language it is essential to dedicate time to developing the four skills equally (oral and written production and comprehension). However, despite the emphasis on oral skills in the Andalusian secondary school curriculum and the existence of various innovative practices or activities to reinforce oral production and comprehension in the classroom, the reality shows that more attention and time is usually devoted to written skills. After completing a questionnaire and analysing the results obtained, this research shows that Andalusian students in Compulsory Secondary Education (CSE) recognise the potential of English in today's society and attach considerable importance to working on oral skills in foreign language (FL) lessons despite the fact that, in their view, more time could be devoted to it in class or more attention could be paid to improving pronunciation.
