Humanized childbirth care is one of the main pillars for ensuring women’s rights and promoting safe, ethical, and evidence-based care. However, the persistence of disrespectful, abusive, and unnecessary practices during the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period demonstrates that obstetric violence remains a significant challenge for health services. This study aimed to analyze the humanization of childbirth care, highlighting the role of nursing in ensuring women’s rights and preventing obstetric violence. This is an integrative literature review with a qualitative, descriptive, and reflective approach, conducted using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS), and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) databases. Articles published between 2015 and 2025 in Portuguese addressing humanized childbirth care, obstetric violence, women’s rights, and obstetric nursing were included. The findings showed that nursing plays a fundamental role in promoting welcoming care, qualified listening, health education, respect for women’s autonomy, and the implementation of evidence-based practices, contributing to the reduction of unnecessary interventions and strengthening humanized childbirth care. It is concluded that strengthening public policies, professional training, and the ethical practice of nursing is essential to ensure safe, respectful, and woman-centered obstetric care.
