Longitudinal incision technique for endoscopic removal of intragastric balloon: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Obesity, defined as the abnormal or excessive expansion of white adipose tissue, is a chronic disease with a complex etiopathogenesis that is increasing globally. Among endoscopic bariatric procedures for treating obesity, intragastric balloon (IGB) placement is a notable option. CASE PRESENTATION: In this case report, we describe a case of complex endoscopic removal of an IGB, which required the use of a longitudinal incision of the device by surgical scissors and foreign body forceps. CONCLUSIONS: In cases of complicated endoscopic removal of IGB, the use of an alternative technique compared to the standard procedure is recommended.
