First hematological and biochemical findings in a rehabilitated giant pangolin (Smutsia gigantea) from Southern Cameroon.

Giant pangolin (Smutsia gigantea) is one of the least studied pangolin species worldwide, with no published hematological and biochemical data available. We report the first blood parameters from a rehabilitated adult male from Campo Ma'an National Park (southern Cameroon). These preliminary descriptive values, obtained from a single individual sampled during the rehabilitation period, are described and discussed in relation to available data from other pangolin species. They provide the first clinical data for this species and highlight their relevance for medical assessment, health monitoring, and conservation management, while underlining the need for further sampling to establish reference values.
