"This dataset provides daily Arctic fields of the Spatial Floe Fragmentation Index (SFFI) at a 12.5 km grid spacing from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2025. SFFI is a dimensionless grid scale metric that characterizes floe fragmentation by jointly considering floe area composition, spatial separation, and geometric complexity. The product was generated using a neighborhood aware XGBoost retrieval model that relates Sentinel-1 SAR derived reference labels to AMSR2 multifrequency dual polarization brightness temperatures, derived radiometric variables, sea ice concentration, and 3 \u00d7 3 neighborhood statistics. Model development used 52,074 matched samples derived from 416 Sentinel-1 SAR scenes covering diverse Arctic regions and ice conditions. The daily fields are distributed as single band Float32 GeoTIFF files organized into ten annual archives. Supporting documentation provides the variable definitions, grid specification, file manifest, checksums, and example reading code. The dataset is intended for analyses of seasonal evolution, regional differences, and interannual variability in Arctic floe fragmentation. It represents a statistical retrieval at the grid scale rather than a direct reconstruction of individual floe boundaries or geometries."
