Relevant Issues of Dispute Resolution in Football: The Case of National Sports Arbitration

The subject of analysis in this article is the specific features of the functioning of the autonomous sports legal order within the framework of the concept of Lex Sportiva, as well as the institutional changes in the mechanism for the adjudication of disciplinary disputes associated with the redistribution of jurisdiction between the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the National Sports Arbitration Center (NSAC). By means of the comparative legal method, the advantages and limitations of the NSAC as a national specialized arbitral institution are identified. The article substantiates the conclusion that the NSAC has significant potential for developing an effective and accessible model for the resolution of football disputes in the Russian Federation. A proposal is formulated for the normative expansion of the NSAC’s jurisdiction over cases not complicated by a foreign element.
