In contrast to visual interfaces in web applications, voice interfaces in IVR applications, which generate VoiceXML output, operate on a single-input, single-output basis. This study compares software development of two types of IVR applications: static VoiceXML approach and dynamic VoiceXML approach. Several software metrics outlined in the ISO/IEC 25010 software quality standards are evaluated for both development approaches. IVR applications were implemented for five distinct scenarios using the aforementioned approaches. Software quality dimensions including maintainability, adaptability and performance efficiency were assessed. The findings indicate that, as scenario complexity increases, dynamic VoiceXML development consistently yields superior software quality across these dimensions.
