Data in support of a meta-analysis of nitrous oxide emissions in maize and wheat

This dataset contains 348 observations (n = 133 for wheat and n = 215 for maize) from 84 site-years (n = 35 for wheat and n = 49 for maize) reported in 42 peer-reviewed studies. All observations contain grain yield (kg/ha), total nitrogen (N) fertilizer applied (kg/ha), and cumulative seasonal N2O-N emissions (kg N/ha/season). These data were used in support of a meta-analysis seeking to determine whether N2O emissions from maize and wheat are quantitatively linked to crop-specific Nitrogen Nutrition Index (NNI).
