Inflammation is an early physiological change in many chronic diseases, posing a serious threat to human health. As we know, improving inflammatory state can prevent the onset of these diseases. Inflammation can be influenced by air pollution. Especially, due to the consistently high levels of ozone pollution, its impact on inflammatory responses has garnered widespread attention over the years. However, due to the wide variety of inflammatory biomarkers and the high heterogeneity among study populations, previous findings on the inflammatory biomarkers and ozone exposure remained controversial. Therefore, based on the global adult studies, we conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis, which indicated that short-term ozone exposure is related to the inflammation. This study provides a scientific basis for the health risk assessment of air pollution, and its quantitative results can be used to optimize air quality standards.especially for the development of short-term pollution control policies. This helps reduce the risk of inflammation-related diseases in the population and promotes the prevention and control of major chronic diseases associated with inflammation
