This study examines how different types of AI feedback influence human persistence during a challenging creative task. Participants will complete an AI-assisted poetry creation task under one of two feedback conditions: AI sycophantic feedback or neutral task-oriented feedback. The study investigates whether feedback that affirms users’ abilities and potential affects persistence, subjective task experience, and self-evaluated performance. The primary outcome is participants’ level of task completion, with additional measures including persistence time, perceived work quality, task difficulty, enjoyment, and effort. We hypothesize that AI sycophantic feedback will increase persistence and positively influence participants’ subjective evaluations and task experiences.
