Welcoming care has been concentrated on clinical, preventive, and healthcare network coordination actions, reaffirming Primary Health Care as the main entry point for child healthcare. However, the findings reveal the need for future studies addressing culturally competent welcoming strategies, structured intersectoral interventions, and the assessment of the effectiveness of these practices.
OBJECTIVE: To map and synthesize the available evidence on welcoming care practices directed toward migrant children in Primary Health Care.
METHOD: A scoping review conducted according to the recommendations of the JBI and reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR checklist. Searches were performed in the MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, Academic Search Premier, Academic Search Ultimate (EBSCO), Scopus, EMBASE/Elsevier, APA PsycInfo (VHL), LILACS, BDENF, Index Psychology - Periodicals, and SciELO databases.
RESULTS: Forty-two studies published between 1999 and 2024 were included. The evidence was categorized into clinical and follow-up actions in Primary Health Care, preventive health actions in Primary Health Care, and healthcare network coordination. The included studies showed heterogeneity regarding methodological designs, study settings, and the characteristics of the populations investigated.
CONCLUSION: Welcoming care has been concentrated on clinical, preventive, and healthcare network coordination actions, reaffirming Primary Health Care as the main entry point for child healthcare.
