A Tool for Inferences about the Past: The Interactive Map of Indigenous Archaeological Sites of the State of São Paulo.

This article presents a comprehensive, publicly available database of Indigenous archaeology in the State of São Paulo in the form of an interactive map, comprising a period of time from the Late Pleistocene until the European arrival, based on lithic and ceramic materials, including sites both from the coastal area and in the interior of the state. This initiative enables us, for the first time, to understand the archaeological wealth and potential of the state which has the country's largest number of infrastructure projects, placing it at the highest risk for cultural heritage destruction. From this perspective, we discuss the importance of publicly available databases, show some patterns observed based on the current state of knowledge, propose research topics for future exploration, and identify key gaps that require adequate attention.
