A proposal is presented that questions the scientific validity of certain categories in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and the lack of a demonstrable biological correlate for some of the described conditions is discussed. It is argued why the ICD should prioritize factual evidence and cellular pathology over administrative utility, and the application of methodological rigor based on anatomopathological diagnosis is suggested.
