The primary aim of this article is to systematize an intergenerational educational model created as part of the project called, Voices of Resilience: Education for a Present Future. The project was a joint collaboration among the University of Manchester (UK), the University of Concepción, and the Municipality of Talcahuano in Chile. The goal was to design an intergenerational educational model for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) tailored to the Chilean context. The methodology involved systematizing the educational interventions which were organized into five stages. Data was collected using various methods— non-participant observation, open-ended questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, participatory workshops, and post-workshop evaluations—and subsequently evaluated using content analysis. The participants were all from Talcahuano. They included twelve (12) senior citizens as well as 260 students in the 7th- and 8th-grades. Analysis of the data suggests that Chile's formal education curriculum should integrate DRR while promoting intergenerational dialogue and the active participation of children in inclusive educational activities. Overall, the proposed model represents an initial step towards a participatory approach to reconstructing collective memories of socio-natural disasters across generations.
