This study proposes a practical train positioning method using sensor fusion of a tachogenerator (TG), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The method dynamically selects sensors based on train operational states to ensure continuous and accurate positioning. Field tests on the Taita and Takayama Lines under various weather conditions showed higher accuracy than the conventional TG-only and TG-GNSS methods. The results confirm that the proposed method maintains stable performance regardless of route or weather, supporting practical railway operation and trackside equipment reduction.
