Abstract This article explores the propagation of the fundamental plane mode in a seven-spaced waveguide, traversing semi-infinite soft baffles. These baffles, functioning as pressure release boundaries are symmetrically positioned within an infinitely long duct with rigid boundary conditions. We focus on analyzing the reflected field amplitude behavior for the seven-spaced waveguide employing a conventional mode-matching technique. The presented results highlight the amplitude variation of the reflected field, offering a clear visualization of the waveguide response across a range of geometric configuration. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive comparative assessment of reflection coefficients, contrasting our findings with existing outcomes from pentafurcated duct scenarios. Our investigation equips researchers and engineers with enhanced understanding and practical tools for managing complex waveguide geometries and diverse boundary conditions with applications in advanced acoustic systems and exhaust technologies. This geometry is essentially a multi-layer acoustic filter inside a duct.
