Male Sex Is Associated With Severe Pulmonary Hypertension and Worse Outcome in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients Referred for Right Heart Catheterization.

Sex differences in COPD patients with concomitant pulmonary hypertension remain unexplored. Analyzing 171 patients from the GRAPHIC registry in Graz, Austria, we found that male sex was independently associated with increased mortality risk, despite comparable comorbidities and airflow obstruction, which may be explained by the increased rate of severe PH.
