The research investigates how China Daily builds narratives about the Russian-Ukraine war in its online coverage as a state-owned English-language media outlet. Based on the qualitative descriptive method, this research analyzes 149 articles published from February 25 to May 30, 2022, generating 352 coding segments. Four major narrative frames were identified, including China’s diplomatic position, negative sentiments towards the West and the US, development and effect of the war, as well as event framework and narrative construction. The findings indicate that China Daily focuses on communication, non-intervention, opposes hegemony and attacks Western sanctions and intervention, which are in line with China’s foreign policy. The thesis argues that China Daily functions not only as a news outlet but can also be understood as a strategic communication platform that presents Chinese perspectives on global order to audiences
