Reciprocity relations in the near field.

The propagator of a scalar, monochromatic, classical wave field composed of evanescent and propagating waves is expressed using quantum formalism, and uncertainty relations are derived. Due to the presence of evanescent waves, this propagator is non-unitary and leads to sub-normalized states and a modified uncertainty relation.
