The quantum dots (QDs) of MoSSe are synthesized using the bottom-up approach of the solvothermal method. The formation of the Janus particle is confirmed by the presence of both sulfur and selenium. The phase of the synthesized samples has been identified as 1T by X-ray diffraction studies and Raman spectroscopy. The size of the QDs is in the range of 2–4 nm, as revealed by the electron microscopy. With a band gap of 3.7 eV, the QDs are highly luminescent in the blue–green region. The nonlinear optical susceptibility measurements have been carried out using the four-wave mixing technique. Z-scan measurements reveal the interplay between the effects of reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and saturable absorption (SA) as a function of incident photon flux.
