Jerome Cornfield was a leading biostatistician of the mid-20th century, held in extremely high regard both by fellow statisticians and medical researchers. He was also beloved for his warmth, charm and wonderful sense of humor. I was fortunate to begin my career working with him; in this piece, I share some memorable experiences.
