OBJECTIVE: Adopting both person-centered and variable-centered perspectives, this study examined the relationship between workplace telepressure and workplace cognitive failure among hospital financial personnel, along with the underlying mechanisms. Latent profile analysis was further employed to identify potential subgroups of workplace telepressure. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted using convenience sampling, with data collected from March to April 2026 in Sichuan Province, China. Standardized instruments were used for measurement, including the Workplace Telepressure Scale, the Work-Family Conflict Scale, the Self-Regulatory Fatigue Scale, and the Workplace Cognitive Failure Scale. From the variable-centered perspective, PROCESS Model 6 was applied to test the chain mediating effect of the chain of work-family conflict and self-regulatory fatigue, while latent profile analysis was used adopt a person-centered perspective. RESULTS: All core variables were significantly and positively correlated. Workplace telepressure was positively associated with workplace cognitive failure among hospital financial personnel. The indirect association through work-family conflict and self-regulatory fatigue was statistically significant and was consistent with the proposed chain mediation model. The person-centered analysis identified two latent subgroups of hospital financial personnel, namely the "low-telepressure type" and the "high-telepressure type." Financial personnel in the high-telepressure subgroup tended to exhibit higher levels of work-family conflict, self-regulatory fatigue, and workplace cognitive failure. CONCLUSION: By integrating dual analytical perspectives, this study addresses the limitations of prior single-perspective research and provides targeted intervention references for hospital human resource management and finance departments.
