This comment aims to comprehensively analyse the alarming increase in suicide rates in India, emphasizing demographic variations, contributory factors, and existing preventive measures. The study also explores the effectiveness of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy (NSPS), Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA), and other initiatives in addressing this public health crisis. This comment concludes that while India has taken crucial steps in formulating suicide prevention strategies, effective implementation remains a challenge.
