Objective: Menopause is a very crucial stage in a woman’s life and symbolises the cessation of the menstrual cycle. Achieving Menopausal well-being may be the goal for positive public health and a better society. The present review article focuses on the interplay of biological, psychological and social factors during menopause. Methods: To review the existing research on menopause and its impact, the Google Scholar and PubMed databases were searched for relevant studies. Eighteen articles over the last 25 years were shortlisted and reviewed. The current research reviewed the shift from the biomedical model to the biopsychosocial model and the role of biopsychosocial factors on the mental health of menopausal women. Studies from various regions worldwide, including America, Europe, Japan, Southern Brazil and Asia, were reviewed. The studies included women from diverse backgrounds, such as defence and nursing. Results: Several biological (vaginal dryness, urinary complaints and hot flushes), psychological (anxiety, irritability, depression, mood swings and sleeplessness) and social symptoms (quality of life) have been noted by researchers. Conclusion: Adopting a multidisciplinary approach may help resolve menopausal issues by involving professionals from different areas of specialisation in the context, like counselling, group therapy, hormone treatment, psychiatric assistance and lifestyle interventions at the personal and family level. An optimistic attitude towards resolving crises during the menopause phase and making positive lifestyle changes may be the key to menopausal well-being and happy living.
